Linda founded the private wealth management firm Gilbert & Cook, Inc., in 1993. She set out to build a team of experienced professionals that truly understand clients, listen to what they want to achieve, and find the right solutions to meet their needs.

After graduating from the University of Northern Iowa, Linda set out for a career in investment planning. Less than five years later, Linda realized that the true focus should be on people, and not products. In 1993, she founded Gilbert & Cook, Inc., an independent wealth management firm dedicated to comprehensive financial planning. Linda’s vision for the company was to create a practice centered around building lasting, genuine relationships—one that prioritized understanding each client’s unique wealth situation and developing tailored solutions, rather than simply selling financial products. To further assist her clients and growing team, Linda became a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ practitioner in 1994.

Thirty years after its founding, the firm now has five partners and employs an in-house investment team and planning team, creating sophisticated strategies to manage over $1 billion in assets. The rapidly growing group of over 37 members includes advisors, analysts, and tax and planning specialists.

Gilbert & Cook is nationally recognized for excellence. It is among the few RIAs whose asset growth qualifies it as one of the “50 Growers Across America” by Citywire RIA. It has also been named among Financial Times’ Top Financial Advisors and won a Best Practices Award from InvestmentNews magazine.

Linda is passionate about living a life of abundance, a philosophy that extends beyond her time at the office to her commitment to giving back. She believes that abundance is not just about financial success, but also about being in service to others and using one's resources to make a meaningful impact. Linda has long been an advocate for causes such as Healthy Birth Day, Inc., and Strands of Strength. In 2021, Linda served as Chairwoman for the Changemakers Luncheon, the annual event hosted by Healthy Birth Day, Inc. This event raises vital funds for programs like Count the Kicks, which aim to reduce the rate of stillbirth across the world. In addition to her charitable work, Linda serves as Chair of The University of Northern Iowa Foundation Board of Trustees, where she plays a pivotal role in advancing the institution’s mission.

Linda and her husband, Chris, embrace their philosophy of living a life of abundance by traveling with their two dogs, Maize and Rue. They enjoy exploring destinations abroad, as well as making regular trips to Minnesota to visit their daughter, Hal, and to Texas to spend quality time with their youngest daughter, Kamryn.
